Sommelier: Various Levels
Location: Farringdon & Bank
About Us: Our Cloth Fair restaurant has now been open for just over 2 years and our wine list is bigger and better than ever, with a strong wine team to match. We are opening a new site in Bank this autumn with the same focus on sourcing and serving the very best wine; from small, independent growers, including from our own portfolio, to rare vintages and auction finds.
The Role: We’re on the hunt for passionate and enthusiastic Sommeliers to join our teams in both sites. If you love wine and have a knack for making people feel at home, this is the perfect opportunity for you. This is a service focused role where, on a section, you will be responsible for a variety of different tasks throughout service as well as recommending wines from our extensive and dynamic wine list.
What You’ll Do:
- As part of the FOH floor team you will be responsible for taking food and drinks orders, selling wine and ensuring that our guests have a warm and welcoming experience from start to finish.
- You’ll make the experience of choosing wine from our lists accessible, fun and engaging for all guests.
- You’ll have the chance to taste a wide range of exciting wines with our Sommelier, expanding your palate and knowledge.
- You’ll work closely with our Head Sommelier to ensure our extensive wine list is up to date, the inventory of wine is accurate and our stock and bar is well organised.
- You’ll assist the Head Sommelier in cellar management, stock takes and placing and processing wine orders.
- You’ll participate in regular training sessions to stay updated with our list and enhance your expertise in order to give tailored recommendations to guests.
What We’re Looking For:
- A genuine passion for both wine and food and a desire to share that passion with others; both guests and colleagues.
- Previous experience in a sommelier or wine-focused role is a plus, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn are key!
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable nature.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to providing great service.
- Someone who is keen to learn and grow within our team.
- WSET Level 2 minimum
Hours & Info:
- This is a full time role; 48 hours per week.
- Saturdays and Sundays OFF
Perks:
- Weekly wine trainings
- Access to wine at cost-price for personal consumption
- Staff socials
- 23 days paid annual leave + Bank Holidays
- 25% off when you eat in the restaurant.
- 10% Family and Friends discount
- Possibilities to progress your WSET certifications
If you’re ready to progress your career in wine and make your mark in our team we’d love to hear from you!
