Senior Wine Advisor - Wine Shop
Part of the Waud Wines Group, Waud Handford Wines is an independent wine merchant offering hand selected fine wines, corporate wine sales and events, as well as hosting tastings for discerning clients.
The role of Senior Wine Advisor is based full time at our Old Brompton Road Shop in South Kensington. The Shop serves as a beacon for our portfolio, the venue for the majority of our tastings and a popular destination to host clients + wine opportunities.
Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic wine specialist looking to broaden their comprehension of fine wine regions while developing their ability as either a sales person and/or premises manager.
The role is dynamic and requires someone who can multi-task with ease while feeling comfortable in a customer facing setting.
The successful candidate will report to our Head of Shop.
Main responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:
- Retail Sales – serving clients in our Old Brompton Road Shop and promoting retail sales through superior customer service, relationship development and after sale care. Liaise with Wine Director and the Sales Team on fine wine campaigns and offerings.
- Stock management + Order fulfilment – Assisting Head of Shop with incoming stock and managing outgoing dispatches from our Shop.
- Premises Management – assisting with the daily management of our Old Brompton Road shop by keeping areas clean and organized while promoting wines using engaging retail material.
- Assist Head of Shop with sales analysis, reconciliation and purchasing. Covering duties while Head of Shop is Out of Office.
- Private Client Sales – develop retail relationships to eventually manage the accounts of a small group of private clients with regular tastings.
- Tasting Host - Host Weekend Wine Schools and Wine Club Walkers for new and existing customers.
- Ownership of a regular sales / marketing channel – e.g. Wine Club Members, Monthly Themed Tasting event, social media marketing, EPOS Development
Key Attributes:
- Minimum WSET Level 3 or evidence of fine wine product knowledge.
- Retail experience expected.
- An area of wine specialism that falls into the scope of our offering. Please highlight this in your cover letter.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage in customer interaction, contributing to high quality customer service, preferably in a retail setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, stock management software (WineHub) and general IT troubleshooting would be a bonus in helping your onboarding.
- Ability to adapt quickly to customer needs, teams tasks and accomplish such independently.
- The candidate will be able to carry boxes weighing up to 20kg
- Proof of Right to Work in the UK.
40 hours per week and candidates must be prepared to work morning + evening shifts, plus up to 3 x weekend (Saturday or Sunday) shifts a month at the shop.
After a six month probationary period we sponsor WSET courses including the Level 4 Diploma. If you are already enrolled on the Diploma, we can support with necessary resits or extra curricular tasting classes.
